What is a Project?

The project features allow you to create your own file system that contains only those files you need to develop your Web site. The benefits of projects include the following:

Projects make it possible to have all of the files you need to build your Web site located in a central, easily accessible location. This means having access to the files; the physical files themselves can be located anywhere on your local, network, or remote drives.
After completing your project, you can copy it to a server and feel confident that no files are missing. This copying operation, also known as deploying or uploading, allows you to develop and maintain site content locally.
You can perform maintenance chores such as search and replace and link verification on an entire project, eliminating the need to perform the operations on each individual file.
